Actor Steven Yeun is in talks for a role in Jordan Peele’s next film project for Universal
It has met with great acclaim Steven Yeun for his performance in Lee Isaac Chung’s film Minari. And after being nominated for Best Actor at the 2021 Oscars, the actor already has his sights set on his next project.
Deadline has indeed reported the news that Yeun is in talks for a role in Oscar winner Jordan Peele’s next project per Universal.
If and when the deal is reached, Yeun will join the one already announced Keke Palmer, who will be the main protagonist of the film, while also the two-time Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya (who is competing this year for the role in Judas and the Black Messiah) is in talks to join the cast.
Since Kaluuya has previously worked alongside Jordan Peele in the horror Escape – Get Out, we can expect an agreement to be reached soon and the two to return to work together on the new film as well.
All the details of Jordan Peele’s new project starring Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun
The project, which will see Peele in the role of both director and screenwriter, will be part of the exclusive five-year agreement between the production company that will finance the film, the Monkeypaw Productions, and Universal.
As already happened with Scappa – Get Out, of 2017 and Noi, of 2019, the other two films by the director for Universal, once again the details on the plot of the film, and even the title itself, have not yet been revealed.
Donna Langley, president of Universal, stressed Peele’s commitment to inclusion in all of its projects:
Jordan has established himself globally thanks to his appeal as an original storyteller. He is leading a new generation of filmmakers who have found a way to tap into the spirit of the cultural age with innovative content that audiences from all backgrounds can identify with.
He added that both Universal and Monkeypaw are particularly concerned with the theme of representation on the big screen.
