The production of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has officially begun. There is still no news regarding a possible release date. Production was originally supposed to begin in May 2023 before being disrupted by last year’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The last time Netflix broadcast new episodes of the series was in July 2022. Although this will be the last season of the original series Netflix, it won’t be the last chapter in the larger Stranger Things universe. Other projects in the works include the stage show “Stranger Things: The First Shadow”, which will premiere in London’s West End, and an untitled animated spin-off series. Stranger Things on Netflix: everything we know about the fifth season
Created by Duffer brothers, the TV series Stranger Things first debuted in July 2016 and quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest hits. Season 4 alone had 140.7 million views worldwide. During its years on air, the fantasy drama was nominated for over 230 awards, winning 70, including 12 Primetime Emmys and a Peabody.
Set in 80s, the series is a declaration of love to the genre films of that decade. Stranger Things began with the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). Thanks to the dedication of his friends and his mother (Winona Ryder), as well as a mysterious girl named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), this close-knit group of friends and family will discover the Upside Down, a parallel dimension full of monsters, but they will also have to deal with government experiments. Of Stranger Things 5, Netflix has not yet released any details on the plot but, based on the finale of the fourth season, it will certainly be based on the invasion of the Upside Down in the real world.
