A new version of the classic 2D Sonic is on its way, with a completely new look, new abilities, new worlds to explore, 4 player co-op and much more for more generations of Sonic fans! Calling all the superstars – it’s time to embark on a brand new Sonic gaming experience! SEGA today revealed Sonic Superstars, the latest Sonic the Hedgehog adventure that offers a new standard of gameplay for the classic high-speed 2D platformer. The journey of Sonic and his friends begins on the beautiful Northstar Island, a mystical place that offers never-before-seen environments and a mysterious story waiting to be revealed. Huge creatures, hilarious adventures, and Dr. Eggman’s evil plans await Sonic and his friends, who can now gain all-new abilities when Chaos Emeralds are collected.
Sonic Superstars will be released digitally and physically in Fall 2023, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Further details on future editions and content will be revealed later.Use your newfound powers to confront Dr. Eggman and stop him from converting the island’s animals into Badniks before it’s too late! Sonic Superstars: Release period and key features
In addition to the release period of the new Sonic Superstars, the key features of the game were presented:
- Sonic’s 2D platformer evolved: Sonic’s classic 2D platformer has been reimagined for next-gen platforms with new zones, music, gameplay, and modern UHD graphics only possible with 3D graphics. Sonic’s movements, physics and controls are familiar and have been crafted with both new and long-time fans in mind.
- Your favorite playable characters: Play as fan-favorite characters – Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose – to take on Dr. Eggman, old nemesis Fang and their nefarious plans. Sonic designer Naoto Ohshima is back with a new character for Sonic and his friends to face off against.
- Seven Emerald powers: Use the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds to unlock various new abilities, such as creating clones of yourself, climbing waterfalls, powering up and more!
- Gameplay Co-Op Multiplayer: Sonic Superstars allows you to tackle the entire campaign in local cooperative mode for up to 4 players to have fun with your friends!
