SEGA today unveiled that Beat, the quiet “Rudie” and main protagonist of the cult classic Jet Set Radio, will arrive in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania as a playable character when the title is available on PC and consoles on October 5, 2021.
Super Monkey Ball collaborates with Jet Set Radio
Jet Set Radio, the classic for 2000 Dreamcast, introduced Beat players and members of GG, the rebel gang of street artists founded to fight for freedom of expression. Now Beat brings his signature style, carefree attitude and skating prowess to the world of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania as a playable character unlockable on all platforms through normal gameplay at launch.
Beat joins the band of monkeys with his original style completely intact, sporting his signature green glasses, soundwave lenses, oversized headphones, and the same magnetic skates he used to glide and wriggle through the futuristic streets of Tokyo-to. Instead of bananas, players will collect spray paint cans as they roll, tilt and bounce through the beautiful worlds of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.
Beat is the first of several iconic guest characters to join the monkey gang in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, which will be announced in the coming days.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will be available on October 5, 2021, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam along with the Digital Deluxe Edition. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will also support Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X at launch, allowing players to purchase the game once to play it on their favorite Xbox console.
Additionally, players who purchase the PS4 digital version from PlayStation Store or the physical version from a select retailer will be able to play the PS5 version at no additional cost.
