Argentina-France: the final of the 2022 World Cup
The incredible story of this football match is well told by our Marco in a dedicated article. After apparently cashing in the 2-0 result, Argentina led by Leo Messi conceded two goals in under two minutes, both signed by the French star Kylian Mbappe.
In extra time, Albiceleste relied on their number 10, which made it 3-2. An advantage that does not last long, however, given that the other 10, always Mbappè, will take care of restoring parity. After several reversals in the face and incredible goal chances thwarted by inhuman saves, it went to penalties. At the end of an incredible match, in the battle of the number 10s, it was Messi who lifted the Cup to the sky. In describing the match, our Marco wrote:
“Let us allow ourselves to be lulled a little longer by the images and emotions of this extraordinary final: a real commercial for a wounded and reviled football, but still capable of transforming itself into a social and cultural phenomenon for hundreds of millions of fans around the world ”.
