After a week at Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelonawe have eyes full of technology (and tapas stomachs, but that’s another story). We have seen devices ready for launch and prototypes from science fiction films, we have tested innovative products of all kinds. And after this tech feast, we decided what ours are five favorite gadgets seen at MWC 2024. Not necessarily the most revolutionary – but the ones we liked the most.
The 5 gadgets of MWC 2024 that we liked the most
Fairs allow us to grasp the first signs of future technological evolution: they give an advance look at those products that we will have in our hands (or, in some cases, on our fingers) tomorrow. After spending these days at Mobile World Congress in Barcelonawe on the techgameworld.com team have a better idea of what to expect in the coming months.
But we don’t go to MWC 2024 just to learn: there are one series on gadgets which moved us, which we found interesting for the most varied reasons – in other words, the better. Not only because they are technologically advanced, but also because they are unique and particular, because they cause discussion. Here are the five that impressed us the most.
Lenovo presents a transparent laptop
One of the innovations that most struck us at the Mobile World Congress comes from the world of laptops – a sector which, after years of stagnation, has started to innovate a lot in recent years. AND Lenovoafter launching a foldable laptop last year, this year it launched a transparent one.
ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop di Lenovo It has a 17.3-inch transparent display, which uses Micro-LED technology to provide good contrast and brightness, even in a transparent device.
This is not a product that will go on sale in the next few months: it is a concept, a way to demonstrate the future possibilities of the technology. And maybe, even if we could try it, we’d like to have the ability to hide behind our laptop without anyone seeing what we’re doing. But seeing and using it in Barcelona impressed us: It seems like it came from the future, yet it already works.
The most interesting gadgets at MWC 2024 Humane AI Pin
Of the “smart pin” of Humanel’AI Pinyes we’ve already talked a lot. But, finally, we got to see it in action right here in Barcelona. We could see how she projects information onto the wearer’s hand, without the need for a screen. And we have seen how AI manages to translate what is said in real time.
The Humane team admitted that, for them, it hasn’t completely replaced the smartphone. Rather, it has reduced its use. Instead of continuing to look at the screen just in case, it becomes possible to get help from AI in a more natural way. We will have to try it more calmly to give a complete judgement, but we found it very interesting to try this new way of interacting with artificial intelligence.
Samsung shows off its Galaxy Ring
Samsung had announced its smart ring very quickly at its Galaxy S24 launch event. And even here in Barcelona, it held up Galaxy Ring behind a display case, simply telling us that it will come in nine sizes (from 5 to 13) and in different colours. Yet, it was one of the most discussed gadgets of MWC 2024: we talked about it with colleagues from other publications, we bombarded the Samsung team with questions to find out some more details.
And then, even without having tried to integrate it with Samsung Health to monitor our health, we could make a million Lord of the Rings jokes. And this time we had a good reason to do it.
Tecno Pocket Go, the gadget for playing on the move with AR at MWC 2024
Portable gaming consoles are becoming increasingly successful on the market. But they usually have small OLED screens. Instead, Tecno Pocket Go offers a huge display, via augmented reality glasses.
All the computing capacity is in the controller, which although rather large is not uncomfortable while playing. The glasses, in addition to projecting the display, they also offer audio. And there is a WiFi connection so you can also play online. We don’t know if this will be the future of gaming on the go. But we like to know that this possibility exists.
Barbie’s phone
At MWC 2024 we saw lots of truly innovative and interesting technological gadgets. But it’s not just the technical part, for a product to reach enthusiasts all over the world you need to make it known. And no one at this fair has managed to get people talking about themselves as much as the Barbie flip phone announced by HMD.
HMD hasn’t told us what features it will have, it hasn’t even shown us the design (it will be released this summer). But the partnership with the Mattel doll enough to make some intriguing news: Barbie will have her own phone. Which we are certain will be pink. And by making people talk about this collaboration, HMD also manages to get people talking about its feature phones: “non-smart” phones, designed for those who don’t want (or want to detox) from apps and games.
These are the five gadgets that most impressed us and made us discuss at MWC 2024. Which one would you like to try? Let us know in the comments.
