Andy Serkis is set to return as well-known butler Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming sequel The Batman 2. Directed by Matt Reeves, starring Robert Pattinson
Andy Serkis is ready to take on the role of the iconic butler again, Alfred Pennyworth, in the next sequel TheBatman 2. The confirmation, which came after a long interview with the actor himself, would officially mark his return to the cinecomic directed by Matt Reeveswith the main protagonist Robert Pattinson.
News welcomed with great enthusiasm by all fans, still anxiously waiting to receive further news on the cast and production. In fact, the name of Andy Serkis, it would seem the only glimmer of light captured on the web, considering the aura of mystery around the making of The Batman 2.
However, M. Reeves has always stated that Andy Serkis was the first choice for him to play the faithful ally of Bruce Wayne (considering the productive collaboration behind).
The Batman 2: a compelling team ready to surprise
In a winning team, the pivotal point of reference cannot be missing. So it is represented for Andy Serkis as the iconic butler Alfred, right sidekick and confidant of Bruce Wayne (played in this new version by Robert Pattinson). Role deeply felt by the actor himself, who confided the long process to immerse himself in such an important character:
When I was offered the part, I remember making an important decision. I wanted to play Alfred in the most emotional way possible. In fact, people would have seen my face and not just a simple avatar
And meticulous and intimate work, able to connect with all the characters he impersonated over the course of his long career: starting from Gollum, in the Lord of the Rings trilogy; up to Caesar, the chimpanzee protagonist of the Planet of the Apes reboot saga and finally (not least), King Kong in the remake of Peter Jackson.
As the puzzle for the sequel to The Batman 2 is formed, we just have to wait for thereleased on October 3, 2025. No further cast or plot details have been revealed at this time.
