The Explore tab arrives on TikTok, it replaces Friends

Small revolution for the TikTok interface, where the Friends section will be replaced by a new tab called Explore. This was reported by TechCrounch (via Ansa).

This novelty will allow users to quickly access a new section which, in addition to collecting content from your friends, will also show sponsored videos based on your interests. To establish what will be shown, of course, will be the Supreme Emperor of TikTok: the algorithm.

TikTok: When is Explore coming? And how will it work?

Currently the new section has been released only for a limited number of users, as often happens in these cases. Barring any problems and unforeseen, the Explore section should arrive for all accounts in the coming weeks.

How Explore works shouldn’t be too dissimilar to the section of the same name on Instagram. We can therefore expect a sort of grid with lots of content. Unlike the Meta social network, however, TikTok will give more importance to the content of users we follow and sponsored related to our interests. However, it cannot be excluded that the app also shows organic, non-sponsored posts similar to our tastes (just like on Instagram). Explore of TikTok will therefore be a balanced section.

Unlike Facebook and other “traditional” social networks, TikTok owes a large part of its success to the ability to make users discover topics that interest them. For this reason, many users had criticized the decision to replace the “Discover” section with a new “Friends” section, almost a year ago.
