Anime Factory, a label owned by Plaion Pictures, has released in the past few hours, via press release, the official poster and the Italian trailer of the anime film The First Slam Dunk. written and directed by the well-known mangaka Takehiko Inoue, former creator of the acclaimed original manga and here in his first attempt as a director. The Italian trailer begins by taking the viewer back in time, where some flashbacks reveal some of the most significant memories of Ryota’s past – never told by Inoue to date. A few moments later we are back on the court, in the heat of the match, where point guard Ryota Miyagi and the rest of the Shohoku team – Hanamichi Sakuragi, Kaede Rukawa, Takenori Akagi and Hisashi Mitsui – are about to give life to one of the most exciting matches ever seen on the big screen.
Produced by TOEI Animation, The First Slam Dunk will arrive in Italian cinemas as an event from 11 to 17 May in a dubbed version, preceded by the exclusive and only date of 10 May in which it will be possible to see the film in the original language. The arrival in cinemas in Italy – which boasts the distinction of being the first European nation and the entire West to distribute the anime film in theaters – represents a real epochal event for fans of the brand, who will finally be able to admire the vision of the master Inoue on the big screen, who over 30 years after the debut of the manga wanted to personally sign the title to guarantee the spirit original of the work, capable of conquering admirers all over the world.

Released in Japan in December 2022, 26 years after the animated series, the film demonstrated how the Slam Dunk brand still remain steadfast in the hearts of the public. Relying on a host of enthusiasts, the feature film has conquered the Japanese and Asian Box Office, as well as having obtained the important recognition of Best Animated Film of the Year at the prestigious Japan Academy Film Prize 2023. Its huge success is also due to a “hybrid” animation between cutting-edge CGI and hand drawing typical of traditional 2D animation, expressly desired by Takehiko Inoue himself to best recreate the fluidity of movements, in game sequences breathtaking and highly realistic capable of catapulting the viewer into the field next to the protagonists.
