The Italian startup Scarponi Motorcycles enters the market for electric mini bikes

The new Italian startup Scarponi Motorcycles, founded by Gianluca Scarponi, is trying to make a name for itself in the electric motorcycle segment. After months of research and development, the company has finally unveiled its range of electric minibikes – a trio looking to bring some fun to the minibike scene. Motorcycles boots, which has its production site in the Teramo-Aquilano Crater area, is currently presenting and selling the new mini bikes on Indiegogo.

All three bikes will be equipped with what Scarponi chiama VSS, o Virtual Switch System. It consists of an energy regeneration system that uses the electric motor of the motorcycle as a generator and battery recharging system, and which also takes care of powering the motorcycle. An “all in one” that also allows the user to accurately alternate the amount of energy that can flow through the battery. In addition, the VSS acts like a traditional manual gearbox, allowing the driver to “shift gears” (but obviously there is no real gearbox). The Scarponi Motorcycles model range consists of three models: the Rebirth, the SC-Density and the CR-Gravity.

Motorcycle boots, three electric for all tastes

The “Rebirth” model (currently discounted at € 2,950) is the bike dedicated tol territory hard hit by the 2009 earthquake, and it is a sporty-style electric mini bike that features elegant lines and an aggressive bodywork, similar to what we see in modern naked bikes. Scarponi affirms that the Rebirth does “It inspires the tradition of Italian motorcycles, with the aim of driving towards the transition to electric propulsion, leaving the typical emotions and sensations of traditional two wheels unchanged”.

The SC-Density (3,500 euros) it is very similar to the “Rebirth”, but wants to carve out a prestigious place in the world of “urban scramblers”. This distinction between the models is due to the presence of subtle stylistic cues that recall those of the modern scrambler, but the tires fitted remain the “road” ones.

Finally, with a particularly retro taste, here is the CR-Gravity (3.500 euro). To achieve this “effect”, Scaroponi’s designers cut the tail, an aesthetic feature often found in cafe racers. The color could not but be the dark green very fashionable in the past years, combined with some white inserts. the saddle is made of eco-leather, as well as the electric motor cover, both in classic brown color. Looking closely at the three minibikes it is clear that the trio share the exact same platform and differ only in terms of stylistic characteristics.

Indeed all three bikes are based on a Brushless electric motor that delivers 11 kW of peak power, which is equivalent to approximately 15 HP. The continuous power is set at 5kW, (6.7 HP), while the maximum speed is 110 Km / h. The autonomy is about 100 km thanks to its 72 V, 50 AH lithium-ion battery.

Specific Motorcycles boots will also be set up at the assembly sites of the videoconferencing systems. Thanks to these, bikers will be able to interact with the mechanics in the assembly phases of their electric motorcycle in order to agree on some changes to the set-up, decorations or colors.
