Care must be taken not to be deceived by inventions announced during the April Fool of the world of technology but, a few days ago, a joking product became real: we are talking about The Key, the mini-keyboard that just does copy paste. Let’s find out all the details together.
Here is The Key, the mini-keyboard that does copy-paste
The product was born as a April Fool. To users of Stack Overflow warnings were shown claiming to have a limited number of copy / paste and that they could only raise that limit by purchasing The Key. Users, as the Stack Overflow blog post notes, were disappointed when they found that The Key wasn’t real though.
But now, you can buy it. The mini-keyboard is available for the preorder on Drop’s official website, for 29 dollars. Shipments will start from December 13, 2021.
As you can see from the image above, they are present only three buttons. We have C, we have V and a third button which, however, we are not sure what function it may have. However, this is not important because the three keys are programmable, which means that users can map them to do what they want.
If you wish, you can use the keys to adjust the volume of your PC, the brightness, to close running applications and much more. The Stack Overflow project, in collaboration with Drop, turns out to be well done. The mini-keyboard is in fact equipped with switch Kailh Box Black, which Drop claims will offer “an ultra-smooth linear feel”.
The case is CNC machined aluminum with custom XDA profile keycaps. There is also a connector USB-C on the back of the mini-keyboard, and there are feet on the bottom to prevent it from slipping. Before concluding, we remind you that stocks are limited so, if you also want a stylish mini-keyboard like this, we advise you to hurry up and pre-order it as soon as possible.
