If he’s not the most masochistic of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Runakita’s shrine comes close, but there’s a solution for him too
If Mayu Mekisa’s was difficult to achieve and easy to complete, for the Runakita Shrine the speech is the exact opposite, although there are no enemies to speak of, but in any case also for this fish to fry of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom there is a solution. We will help you get to the place in question and tinker with the Ultrahand. Did you think the introductory puzzle with the Uko Hou Ropeway was challenging? Trust us: you haven’t seen anything yet. Be patient, though. There will be no enemies, but you will still spend a good hour there. Perhaps.
Literally All Connected – The Solution to Runakita’s Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Let’s start with the easy things, or how to reach the Runakita shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, before seeing the solution. Do you remember Castonne’s introductory quest to unlock his inventory expansion service? Well, climbing further from the point where you found it, you will reach a mountain lake, in which a Topographic Tower. The good news is that the tower is operational; the bad news is that to reach the islet you will have to tinker a lot with the Ultrahand outside to create a bridge. (Great warm up, trust me.) The aerial view after unlocking the tower will allow you to see a shrine near the entrance to a Chasm: that’s where you have to go.
Spinning Balls – The Solution to Runakita’s Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
If you remember the shrines from Breath of the Wild well, you might also remember the puzzles based on the ball rolling. You will start next to the finish line of the ball and you will see it in the distance. This first phase is easy: glide towards the stairs, climb them (or, on the thirtieth fall into the void of the sphere, use the Ascensus on the sides) and you will reach the infamous device. Place it on the rails with your shift power and it will automatically reach its first milestone. Sadly there are two more, though. Don’t worry, this was the easiest part: that’s when the real fights start!
Pool Cues – The Solution to Runakita’s Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
You will notice four slats, two on each side, in the place of the second phase. Use Ultrahand to merge two together (two at a time, of course) and place them on the sides of the sphere as you see in the image below. This should compensate for the new rails, which have a greater distance between them. The second stage was also easy. The problem is later! When (not “if”, when) the ball falls down during the final carry, it will reappear at the last “checkpoint” reached, but the same cannot be said of the cues. To bring them back there, you will have to go back to this second area and create with them one big rod, and place it on the rails. If it is perpendicular to the latter, the maxi-cue will reach its destination.
Pause for looting – The solution to Runakita’s shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
There is one secret chest this time too! Reaching it is quite simple: you will have to use the various stone slabs that you will find in the third area to create a bridge. Also in this case there are rails, on which you can place the bridge in question. We stumbled upon this simpler solution after some fumbling, but we’re more fond of the creative alternative we came up with (below). A way like any other to remind you that you will definitely need the cues also in the final phase… and that you could come back for them again, and again, and again.
And here falls the donkey (with attached spheres) – The solution to the Runakita shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
We come to the stage of pure pain: the third. As we said earlier, there are several slabs. Some stand alone, others are permanently fused together. The game here is attempting to hint to craft a stone basket for the cable car with the Ultrahand. Sadly, unlike when you first gained power, they aren’t there hooks ready: you will have to create one with slats. At least, that’s the basic idea on paper: to create a zipline. Problems arise with the enormous weight that the sphere carries with itmaking the structure very difficult to drag with additional weight.
Like a Ship in a Bottle – The Solution to Runakita’s Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
There is only one alternative, whether you like it or not: arm yourself with patience (but really a lot) and, hoping that the realistic physics of the game will send you good luck, build the cable car directly on the starting point. “Patience”, “departure” and, willful or not, as well “slope”: the ground from which the track starts, in fact, is diagonal. We were finally able to complete the fateful journey only by avoiding the hook itself, in favor of one handle more symmetrical (below). We had to apply it last, just in case, thus preventing the load from falling. Of course it cannot be excluded that things could go better for you, but considering that starting with the load on the ground you need to hit the cable car to get it going… well, you can put two and two together.
Possible (but not too many) subsequent attempts
In the event of a fall, in any of the three stages of the shrine, the orb will reappear at the last milestone it reachedwhile i components (the slats in the second zone and the slabs in the third) will only ever come back in the areas where they are initially available. Since it’s more likely that the problems really start at the third stage, be prepared to glide to the shrine entrance, climb the first stairs, glide to the twin stairs, and use Ascensus to bypass them. The ability to cross ceilings will prove to be essential to cut a good half minute of climbing. That said… Good luck.
