Interesting update coming for Google Maps for iOS and Android, which introduces aerial images in 3D of nearly 100 monuments in the world. These include Alcatraz in San Francisco, Big Ben in London and the Empire State Building in New York City, to name a few. Apparently, Google proposes the new feature as a preview tool for tourists, but also as a solution for the more curious users who cannot afford to travel to the other side of the world.
Google Maps adds 3D aerial imagery for some of the world’s most famous landmarks. At the moment, these are accessible to users globally: just find a landmark on the map – where available – and visit the Photos section. In this way it will be possible to access the three-dimensional view of the monument in question. An absolutely interesting novelty, but not the only one. In fact, in this period, Google is updating the cycle navigation of Maps with more detailed route information, including heavy car traffic, stairs, steep climbs and road types. In addition, bike owners will have more time to compare different routes with each other.
New options will also be added to these options location sharing notifications which will inform users when a friend reaches – or leaves – a certain place. A useful function if you have made an appointment with your friends at a concert and you want to know which of you have already reached the appointed place. Precisely for this reason, notifications are activated only for people who have already consented to share their locations. And Google Maps promises notifications via App and email to ensure that people don’t leave sharing enabled longer than necessary. In short, many functions that will greatly improve the user experience.
