The next iPad Pro they will have a display OLED. This is stated in a report published yesterday by Ross Young, co-founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.
It would therefore be a clear change of direction compared to what has been seen with the latest iPad Pro released on the market, with the 12.9-inch model that currently uses mini-LED technology, not present on the 11-inch version.
But to what do we owe Young’s security? The CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants cites another report, that of the Korean website The Elec, according to which LG appears to be working on 11 and 12.9-inch OLED panels intended for the iPad Pro while Samsung should provide i OLED displays of the 11-inch model only.
The screens should all be OLED LTPO, which would allow the integration of ProMotion technology and the possibility of varying the refresh rate, passing 10 to 120 Hz as needed.
Yes, it’s true, the iPad Pro already supports ProMotion but at the moment the minimum refresh rate that can be reached is 24 Hz. Going down to 10 Hz would save more energy and increase the autonomy of the device.
Will all this be true? We will have to wait a long time to find out. According to The Elec, the new iPad Pro OLEDs will hit the market only in 2024.
