Let’s start first from the fact that it is undoubtedly a question of a quality product. We have already talked about this in depth in our review of the “classic” OnePlus 12R, not the Genshin Impact Edition, but it is worth repeating. It is indeed a smartphone that delivers very solid performance from almost every point of view, it has never faced any drops or difficulties during our use (quite intensive, let’s underline it).
Perhaps one of the aspects where it loses a few more strokes is the camera. If the rear one performs rather well with all its objectives, giving appreciable results at every level, the front one gives a little less satisfaction, especially in less than optimal lighting conditions. In short, nothing terrible, but if you are a selfiemaniac, you can find better on the market.
But after all this phone has another type of target, that is, gaming enthusiasts and specifically Genshin Impact, obviously. Beyond all the aesthetic aspect, in fact, we have the presence of Trinity Engine, which allows for better gaming sessions in every aspect. Durability, quality, performance, we really have everything you could want. And naturally Genshin Impact turns out to be a beauty.
We tested it, trying to force it, but nothing. Even just the cooling system it is absolutely effective: you can easily play even demanding titles without a cover, something that smartphones, even higher-end ones, don’t always do. Combined with an extremely long-lasting battery, ultra-fast launch times, fast charging and theHyperHDR, we are truly faced with the perfect phone for enthusiasts. AND we haven’t even talked about the most engaging aspect yet from this point of view.
A special edition in every respect
This type of collaboration has mixed results. In fact, sometimes “special versions” of a device, a console, or even a car, lead to simply a little logo engraved somewhere, a unique color, a few details and it ends there. That’s not the case. OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition is indeed entirely dedicated to the game and in particular to Keqing enthusiasts.
In fact, even more than the title in general, this smartphone is focused on Thunderbender, one of the most loved characters. And the presence of Keqing runs through every single aspect of the device, with continuous references and quotes.
Starting from packaging itself, which is already splendid and of great impact in itself. If the idea is to give this smartphone to an enthusiast, he will be impressed right from the box. This is a large packaging, with a large portrait of Keqing on the front.
Not even the SIM extractor is immune to customization
Once the dust jacket has been removed we will have a chest (with magnetic closure and very solid) which will contain the smartphone on the first floor and a pin dedicated to the character. Then with a series of well-studied mechanisms we will proceed with the unboxing, finding more and more surprises. Beyond traditional accessories, such as chargers and cableswe will in fact have a new series of pins, two stands, a display stand and the cover (which combines us with the screen protector already applied). Everything coordinated.
And’purple explosion, in many different shades, faithful to the palette that identifies Keqing in Genshin Impact. All with a truly well-thought-out design that can be appreciated, even beyond the passion for this game. It is the attention to detail that is striking, which goes into extreme depth. Suffice it to say that on the cover we will have an illustration of Keqing holding this OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition in his hand. Or what the SIM extractor is shaped like the Lightning Stiletto. And that’s not all yet.

OK, don’t take this subtitle literally. We don’t mean that even the internal chips on the body are purple or decorated with themed logos. Although we didn’t actually take the phone apart to check and probably we wouldn’t even be too surprised if that were the case.
To be clear, this is the Photos App icon. Need we say anything else?
What we actually mean is that even beyond the design of the device, the same internal software is chock-full of game callouts. The entire operating system has been redesigned to immerse us in the atmosphere of Genshin Impact, from the clock in the always-on-display to the symbol to indicate the position of the fingerprint reader. Even the application icons they are inserted in a purple box and the system ones have been specially redesigned.
Do you think it’s over here? Obviously not! The background of the lock screen is logically an (animated) portrait of our Keqing, taking the same illustration as the cover, with the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition in her hand. AND all sounds are dedicated to this character.
Be it notifications, ringtone for calls and even the alarm clock, we will hear Keqing’s voice, urging us to take action. Which when it’s six in the morning and you’re opening your eyes still confused is an absolute experience curious but fun.

In short, beyond the evaluations on the smartphone itself (for which we refer you to the review linked above) which are decidedly positive, this edition in particular won us over. This is not a simple limited edition with some small references to the brand, but of a painstaking job, done by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
Perhaps the only doubt concerns the choice of having dedicated so much the product to a single character. Considering that Genshin Impact is really characterized by a wide variety of heroines and heroes perhaps we could have found a way to enhance this aspect of the title, rather than just focusing on Keqing, as popular as it is.
Beyond this however we are sure that for a gaming enthusiast, this smartphone is really perfect. The whole experience, from the packaging to the gaming sessions (right down to the aforementioned wake-up experience with Keqing’s voice) makes the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition decidedly complete.
