The collaboration between ProGaming Italia and Treedom has allowed 400 trees to be planted in Kenya, for an initiative that aims to unite the world of eSports with eco-sustainability. The project, called #progreenplay, is an extension of the first edition of Virtual Arena, which has environmental sustainability among its themes. What is E-Park is born: a real green park in Kenya. The latter consists of two forests for a total of 400 trees, planted to favor the absorption of about 136 tons of CO2.
eSport and eco-sustainability: an indissoluble combination
Each of the 400 trees is virtually visible on the Treedom official website. An initiative that certainly does not remain isolated, given the constant attention of ProGaming Italia towards the environment. In fact, already on the occasion of the last edition of the ESL Italia Championship, PGI had contributed to planting 80 fruit trees in Guatemala. Even in that case the goal was to compensate for the amount of CO2 emitted during the championship. An indispensable approach, on the part of an ever-expanding sector, which takes its fair share of environmental responsibility towards the planet.
“Sustainability for ProGaming Italia is one of the cornerstones and corporate values” he said Daniel Schmiedhofer, CEO of ProGaming Italy. “In the world, 2.6 billion people play video games and a growing number of them are taking an interest in the environment and conservation, and it is for this reason that in our country too we want to contribute with concrete actions to the good of our planet in a environment such as that of gaming with a strong environmental impact “.
eSport and eco-sustainability will also be the key themes of this year’s Virtual Arena, which will host talks and initiatives from 27 to 29 May 2022. Also in this case it is important to underline the importance of the dissemination commitment, which is fundamental for bringing together the young people of Generation Z and the Next Generation. After all, they will be the true proponents of the planet’s destiny. “ProGaming Italia is firmly convinced that gaming and digital entertainment represent a fundamental tool for raising awareness on climate and environmental problems”, reads the official PGI press release.
