Just a few minutes ago we brought you some rumors according to which Sony has decided to permanently cancel the release of the PS5 Prothe enhanced version of the PlayStation 5 console. Now comes a denial from reliable, albeit unofficial, sources.
According to journalist and insider Tom Henderson PlayStation 5 Pro has not only never been canceled, but it would even be about to come out. Henderson reports that the new console will see the light in 2024.
What we know about PS5 Pro, due out in 2024
The PS5 Pro, according to Henderson, will arrive on the market towards the end of 2024, barring any delays. However, it is not the only Sony console to be released, as the PS5 with removable optical reader will also arrive by the end of 2023. Regarding the latter model, the journalist reports that an official announcement will arrive by April.
The technical details regarding the Pro version of PlayStation 5 are currently scarce if not non-existent, and the little information circulating on the net is not confirmed. According to rumors (so we invite you to take the following with a grain of salt) PS5 Pro will optimize Ray-Tracing thanks to enhanced hardware. The increased power will also result in improved performance, with faster startups and faster loading. We can also assume more storage space.
E la PlayStation 6?
What is certain, however, is that Sony is already thinking about the new generation. The PlayStation 6 it will hardly arrive on the market before 2028 and will certainly not be released before 2027. As already explained in the previous article, it is therefore conceivable that Sony wants to keep consumers busy for these 7/8 years (remember that PS5 came out in 2020). This would justify the marketing of enhanced (PS5 Pro) and alternative (PS5 slim and PS5 with removable player) versions of the PlayStation 5.
Meanwhile, Sony began 2023 with excellent sales figures for the PS5, after two and a half years characterized by a real supply crisis.
