Son of ideology “Fashion Forward” by Huawei, this model aims to combine technology and fashion to offer users the possibility of personalizing their path towards healthier habits, without ever giving up style. Will it be enough to distinguish it from the rest of the market? Let’s find out in this one Huawei Watch GT 4 review.

Our review of the Huawei Watch GT 4

The Huawei Watch GT 4 is a complete top-of-the-range smartwatch, offering improved style, functionality and performance, without sacrificing the design of traditional watches. The smartwatch allows you to integrate the most innovative smart technology into a healthy lifestyle thanks to features such as Intelligent menstrual cycle tracking 3.0 o to Awareness of breathing in sleep.

In fact, the smartwatch uses the most innovative technologies developed by the company such as HUAWEI TruSee 5.5+ which incorporates a multi-channel signal enhancement algorithm based on a Deep Learning algorithm and much more. But let’s start in order!

Before starting our review it is good to know that the Huawei Watch GT 4 is available in two main versions of 46mm and 41mm and many variations of the strap. For this article, we tested a 46mm Huawei Watch GT 4 with metal strap.

Design

Huawei Watch GT 4 recensione1 1

As anticipated, the Huawei Watch GT 4 aims to unite the world of technology and fashion. For this last point, the smartwatch presents itself excellently with a classic and elegant design that is reminiscent of traditional watches. Our version features a 46mm octagonal case designed for men and offers a bold style without feeling heavy on the wrist. The weight is in fact 48 grams (37 grams for the 41mm) and is in line with the overall dimensions (46 mm × 46 mm × 10.9 mm) and above all with the average on the market. The metallic gray is also repeated on the supplied metal strap which helps to give that chic and classic touch.

On the body of the watch we find a crown with which to move within the smartwatch menu and activate/deactivate functions quickly. At the bottom of this, we find another customizable button to activate functions extremely quickly. Basically, that button is reserved for fitness workouts but you can customize it to your liking. The feel it provides is truly excellent and thanks to the choice of steel and excellent quality materials, the sensation is that of having a device made to last on the wrist, which is a significant element for such an exposed wearable. Added to this is a certification IP68 of water and dust resistance and an ability to withstand up to 5ATM when diving.

In addition to the smartwatch, in the package we also find the device charger, the instruction booklet and a series of strap elements to be able to widen it according to needs. In this regard, we also point out the extreme simplicity in unhooking and hooking the elements to find the size best suited to our wrist.

Technology

Huawei Watch GT 4

Inside the Huawei Watch GT 4 is equipped with a processor ARM Cortex-M which offers optimal performance even if it doesn’t differ too much from the previous model. It must be said that the fluidity is really excellent as is the management of the processes that regulates battery consumption to last as long as possible. The display of the smartwatch is a 1.43″ AMOLED which offers excellent viewing of the screen even under sunlight. A sensor will also allow you to best adjust the brightness automatically. Obviously there is also an Always On function to have the display always on which, in addition to giving an even more realistic aesthetic touch, allows a more immediate view of time, notifications and so on.

Without a doubt the most interesting part of the smartwatch concerns the sensors and innovative algorithms that expand the functions and data that can be acquired by the device. Among these we find the HUAWEI TruSeen vital signs monitoring 5.5+ which incorporates a multi-channel signal enhancement algorithm based on a proprietary Deep Learning algorithm. This results in a 30% more accurate heart rate reading. In the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 we also find the updated HUAWEI version TruSleep 3.0 which provides improved analysis of sleep cycles. Among the new functions, we also find the Awareness of breathing in sleep which detects any irregularities in breathing.

In terms of autonomy, we have a large battery available 524mAh which guarantees, according to Huawei, up to 12 days of use. Fast wireless charging allows you to charge the smartwatch from 0 to 100 in about an hour and a half.

A smartwatch (also) for fitness

Don’t be fooled by the classic style, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 is an excellent smartwatch for athletes too. In addition to the classic Activity Rings, now a trademark of Huawei’s wearables, we find improved GNSS tracking and the new app “Stay fit”in addition to the already mentioned TruSee 5.5+.

Activity rings allow you to clearly view your daily fitness statistics (calories burned, exercise duration and activity while standing). In fact, there is no shortage of elements to keep under control! In fact, the smartwatch offers access to more 100 sports modes which also include popular disciplines such as padel and E-sports.

As for the “Stay Fit” functionality, this allows one advanced calorie management. The app is integrated directly into the watch and uses real-time data useful for managing calorie needs as well as providing complete and personalized advice depending on our goal to achieve.

Furthermore, those who practice hiking and running can take advantage of the five-system dual-band high-precision GNSS tracking which improves positioning accuracy by 30% compared to previous models.

Our test of the Huawei Watch GT 4

Huawei Watch GT 4 recensione

For this review, we tested the Huawei Watch GT 4 for about two weeks during which it replaced our daily use smartwatch (a Huawei Watch Buds).

Let’s start by saying that the smartwatch presents itself at its best with a somewhat demanding but well-structured design and made with excellent materials, it is difficult to understand that it is not a traditional watch. Once accessed, however, everything reminds us of Huawei’s attention towards wearable devices. Display, performance and applications are at the top. The operating system has been improved and it seemed much more fluid even if the possibility of customization and the apps to add are still light years away from the unattainable Apple Watch.

Overall, however, the smartwatch has everything we need. it’s true that most of the sports you can choose from concern a super niche audience, but this also means that the smartwatch certainly has what you are looking for. The sensors and the way in which the data is shown to us are increasingly clear and precise even compared to smartwatches released this year. Which is great!

Praise must also be given to the autonomy. The goal of 12 days of maximum use promised by the company is difficult to reach, especially if you activate the GPS or the always on display, but overall the result is excellent and we practically didn’t get to less than 7 days of use. An excellent result if you think about all the features available. A worthy “revenge” against the aforementioned Apple Watch.

The review of the Huawei Watch GT 4 smartwatch in brief

The mix of design-technology-performance that this smartwatch offers is equal only to the excellent quality-price ratio. Starting from 249 (and up to €399), this smartwatch with its hundreds of features can be yours and with it all the customizable style that Huawei offers.

Athletes, fashion victims or very normal users, this smartwatch could contain everything you need in its small body and also other functions that you don’t yet know you need. A new high standard in the world of wearables.
