The smartphone is increasingly used to buy new insurance policies online. The confirmation comes from the data collected by thePrima Assicurazioni Observatory. The survey, in fact, found that 42% of online policies purchased from the company’s customer base was subscribed via smartphone. 58% of the policies, on the other hand, were underwritten via a PC.

The data collected by the Prima Assicurazioni Observatory survey confirms the growth in the number of users who purchase a policy online. The survey data refer to the period January – October 2021. Last year, in the same period, the percentage of users who took out a new insurance policy via smartphone was 38.5% with the PC reaching 61.5%.
The regions that mostly use the smartphone to activate an insurance policy are Valle d’Aosta (46.8%), Emilia-Romagna (46.6%), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (46.1%), Lombardy (46.1%), Trentino-Alto Adige (46.0%) and Piedmont (45.8%). In Campania (34.4%), Sicily (37.7%), Tuscany (39.0%), Umbria (39.0%) and Marche (39.2%), on the other hand, smartphone use is more limited. Among Under 30 you register on overtaking between smartphone and computer with 50.4% of the policies subscribed on a mobile device.
As regards the car insurance policies, during the first ten months of 2021, the smartphone was used to stipulate the 42.4% of the policies. Among the Under 30s, however, this percentage reaches 50.4%. In the 30-50 age range, however, the percentage is 48.3% while among the over 50s smartphones are used only in 34.8% of cases.
