The Spiderwick Chronicles series, already completed, will not be streaming on Disney+ but will be offered to other platforms
The serial adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles will no longer arrive as anticipated on Disney +, which has pulled out of the distribution of the project. The complete series of six episodes, produced by Paramount Television Studios and from 20th Television, it will therefore be offered in these days to other potential buyers.
Based on homonymous children’s bestsellers from Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, the live-action series The Spiderwick Chronicles follows the Grace family as they move to their home of origin, The Spiderwick Estate, and discover an alternate world of fairies. Disney itself had announced the production of the series in November 2021 as part of Disney+ Day.
The Spiderwick Chronicles: the cast and everything we know
The cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles includes prominent names. The stars of Shazam! Jack Grazer, Joy Bryant e Mychala Lee joined the cast of the series a year ago, along with Christian Slater, Lyon Daniels and Noah Cottrell. Grazer will voice the Thimbletack contraption, while Bryant and Lee will play Helen Grace and Mallory, respectively. The showrunner is Aron Eli Coleite, who is also an executive producer along with Black, DiTerlizzi, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, DJ Goldberg and Julie Kane-Ritsch. Kat Coiro directed the first two episodes and is also an executive producer of the same.
The cuts we have talked about are part of a controversial and complicated cost-cutting operation implemented by Disney+ with the aim of save approximately $3 billion on non-sports content spending of the entire Disney group. For the same reason, several contents, including original ones (such as Willow), were removed from the platform last May. The intent is to focus more on Disney’s intellectual property content, such as the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series coming to streaming this December.
