The Volvo Trucks Italia forest is born

Volvo Trucks Italia and Treedom for a greener planet. The initiative provides that for each electric truck sold, Volvo Trucks Italia gives its customer a package of trees that can be tracked online.

Treedom is the first platform in the world that directly finances agroforestry projects, spread throughout the territory, with the aim of creating sustainable ecosystems and allowing thousands of farmers to meet the initial costs of planting new trees, guaranteeing food sovereignty and opportunities over time. of income.

Continuing the path taken towards reducing CO2 pollution, which recently saw us as protagonists with the launch of an entire range of fully electric vehicles, Volvo Trucks wants to make another strong contribution to protecting the environment with the initiative “Smile, recharge, breathe” which will see the creation of the first Volvo Trucks Italia forest in partnership with Treedom.

As said previously, Volvo Trucks Italia, for each electric truck sold, will give its customer a package of different trees that will be planted between Cameroon, Colombia, Tanzania, Kenya and Guatemala, so that more areas of the planet can benefit from reforestation.

The trees can be followed and monitored by the customer through the portal Treedom, which allows to follow the entire life phase from a distance, from planting to plant care and management. The trees will therefore be photographed, geolocated and monitored over time.

Just as Treedom is fighting for the protection of the planet through the promotion of a geoforestation project that aims to plant new trees all over the world, the most natural way to reduce man-made carbon dioxide emissions, Volvo Trucks is investing in completely fossil free transport by 2040 and with this partnershipwants to give a further signal of attention to climate change and eco-sustainability to be transmitted also to its customers.

“Attention and respect for the environment has always been one of Volvo Trucks’ core values - declares CEO Giovanni Dattoli – it is essential for us to do everything in our power to comply with the Paris Agreement on climate change and reduce CO2 emissions. We look to the new generations when we set goals, because it is for them that we are building the future and for this reason it is essential for us to give a concrete and measurable message of the benefit that our vehicles can bring and this initiative will help us to do so “.
