The whole boot now knows Marcell Jacobs, the sprinter who won the gold medal for 100 meters at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Apparently the athlete, in addition to an enviable sports preparation, had a second ace up his sleeve: his Nike Maxfly. This is a line of shoes created by Nike and designed specifically for Jacobs’ sport.
Marcell Jacobs and Nike Maxfly shoes
What exactly are the Nike Maxfly shoes worn by Marcell Jacobs? These shoes have made a lot of talk about them, after Marcell’s victory at the 100 meters flat, but it is an equipment allowed for the discipline by the World Athletics, a federal body that ensures that all Olympic competitions are held in full regularity. The shoes in question would be able to improve the performance of sprinters up to 8 cents in total.
At this point you may be wondering how they work, so let’s take a look at them in more detail. The Nike MaxFly weigh 173 grams, the heel is under 20mm with a carbon plate in the wider sole of the sole of the foot, which it should make the contact surface wider and therefore allow an improved stability in the first supports. This factor would guarantee a big gain in acceleration thanks to a greater distribution of force.
The plate works roughly as a kind of spring, designed to improve performance in the launch and cornering phase. Of course, despite the fact that these are footwear certified by World Athetics, nThere was no lack of criticism from international newspapers, which have raised various rather senseless controversies about the validity of Jacobs’ evidence.
Undoubtedly the Maxfly, so far known only by athletes and professionals, will enjoy drastically greater media exposure and many sportsmen will do everything to have them at their feet.
