Design
Starting from stilethis Xiaomi 13T boasts a elegant and modern appearance, with a glass body and a metal frame. This model is available in three colors: Alpine Blue, green and blackthe latter is the color of the Xiaomi 13T that we used for this review.
The back features a triple camera setup with two large main lenses made in Leica which occupy the top part of the smartphone together to the flash and ultrawide lens. The front of the device is dominated by a large 6.67 inch AMOLED display, which offers vibrant colors and sharp resolution.
On the right side we find the on and off button and above it the volume management buttons. On the lower side we have an audio output, the Type-C charging input and the SIM card tray.
In addition to being particularly elegant, the ergonomics of the smartphone are truly excellent. Despite the generous screen size, the Xiaomi 13T sits comfortably in the hand and offers a good grip. Furthermore, the device is lightweight and thin, making it easy to carry. Last but not least, the mirrored back leaves no fingerprints and is very easy to clean. It was important, thanks Xiaomi!
Technology
Under the body we find a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra processor which although it distances itself from the performance of the more recent (and expensive) Snapdragon 8, delivers really good performance along with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage memory. The thermal dissipation of the Xiaomi 13T series is improved thanks to a 5000 mm2 VC stainless steel plate, which ensures its cooling.
As anticipated, the smartphone features a 6.67″ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5. The Display uses a highly appreciated 144Hz refresh rate and support for formats such as HDR10+. Together with the Xiaomi 13T Pro, this model also boasts a brightness of 2600 nits making it one of Xiaomi’s brightest models.
To fuel everything we have a large 5000 mAh battery, which offers excellent autonomy. Furthermore, the device supports 67W fast charging That promises to recharge the smartphone from 0 to 100 in about 45 minutes. The charging connector and related USB Type-C cable are included in the package.
Camera side
Without a doubt one of the strong points of this smartphone, as of the entire 13T series, is the collaboration with Leica regarding the camera. Both on a hardware and software level, Xiaomi benefits from the German company’s experience in terms of lenses and therefore image quality.
Xiaomi 13T boasts a triple camera setup with Summicron lenses co-engineered with Leica, including one 50MP wide-angle camera with 24mm focal length and a 7P aspherical lens designed to capture a greater amount of light. They are also added to this a 50MP telephoto lens with 50mm focal length it’s a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 15mm focal length, ideal for taking panoramic photos. Thanks to the support of DCI-P3 technologyFurthermore, the cameras of both smartphones feature a wider color gamut which helps capture every moment.
Even at the software level we find Leica’s hand which gives us two unique shooting modes, Leica Authentic e Leica Vibrant. These styles allow you to capture high-impact images through natural color reproduction, strong contrast and shadow definition. Added to these are also six different ones Leica filters they recall the legendary style of the brand, including the most recent ones Leica Sepia and Leica Blue.
Our test of the Xiaomi 13T
For this review, we tested the new Xiaomi 13T for about two weeks and also accompanied us to the presentation event of the 13T series in Berlin. During our testing, we used the device for several tasks, such as web browsing, streaming videos, and using social media applications. In all these situations, the phone performed excellently, offering fast and smooth performance. The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra processor is certainly not the most powerful on the market but it did not leave us disappointed and every activity was carried out in the best possible way.
The brightness of the Amoled display is highly appreciated and above all the 144Hz refresh rate which makes everything even more fluid, especially when playing video games. The quality of the images taken with the Xiaomi 13T camera is also excellent. The device’s triple camera setup allows you to take sharp, detailed photos, even in low-light conditions. Leica’s creative shooting modes offer interesting ways to spice up your photos and achieve professional results.
Also noteworthy is the quality of the videos capable of supporting HDR and the 4K format. The latter, however, stops at 30FPS unlike the 1080 quality which can go up to 60.
The Xiaomi 13T review in brief
In conclusion, the Xiaomi 13T is a great smartphone that offers excellent value for money. Everything we have seen can be yours for around €699, a more than competitive price for a smartphone in this range.
The elegant design, smooth performance and high-quality camera make it an ideal choice for those looking for a reliable and high-performance device. Furthermore, the long battery life and fast charging are features that make it even more interesting.
