Il tredicenne Willis Gibson è la prima persona al mondo a finire Tetris (mandando il tilt il gioco) thumbnail

Thirteen-year-old Wilis Gibson is the first person in the world to finish Tetris

The game of Tetris, generally, it is more a challenge with oneself and one’s records than a real competition against the video game. Well evidently Willis Gibsona thirteen-year-old from Oklahoma, didn’t have to see it that way, since he played so hard that he literally crashed the Tetris game.

All while he was live on YouTube, achieving what in jargon is called Kill Screen, a result never before achieved by a human being.

What is the Kill Screen in Tetris?

On paper Tetris is a game that has no real end. As the levels progress – which increase based on the time spent in the game and the lines removed by the player – the game tends to progressively increase the falling speed of the individual blocks. The philosophy of the game, at least theoretically, is that sooner or later the player will lose.

However the software itself has limitationsto date never surpassed by a real person, and it is possible to beat it by reaching the Kill Screen. Essentially you reach such a high level that the game itself is unable to increase the speed at which the blocks fall. The game goes like this literally the tilt prima di crashare.

Over the 39-year history of Tetris, the Kill Screen has only been achieved through AI-based software, but never by an actual human.

The video of Willis Gibson’s feat: he finishes the Tetris game in 38 minutes

Willis Gibson managed to reach the Kill Screen while he was live on YouTube (where he usually streams under the nickname Blue Shields). On 38 minutes the thirteen-year-old reached the level 157 playing a Nintendo Electronic System (NES) version of Tetris. What happened next consigned him to history: the game crashes, it’s Kill Screen, and he bursts into tears in disbelief.

You can watch his feat in the video below. However, be aware that the first 38:50 seconds will be just falling blocks. Skippate a 38:54 to watch his incredulous and moved reaction to this goal he has just achieved.
