Trieste Science+Fiction Festival unveils the first titles in competition for the big event. Scheduled from October 27 to November 1, here are all the details
The 23rd edition (on paper) of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, is ready to start again in style in the Julian capital. For the occasion, the first 6 titles in competition were revealed in preview. With a variety of films and visions from documentary to crime; from sci-fi colors to the most classic science fiction; the most critically acclaimed films scheduled from October 27 to November 1, 2023.
Directed by the famous English journalist and essayist Alan Jones, let’s find out all the details below.
Trieste Science+Fiction Festival: the titles competing in the new edition
The Trieste Science+Fiction Festival is ready to kick off, with a great tribute for the first 60 years of the historic International Science Fiction Film Festival. Heir to the first event held in Trieste from 1963 to 1982; an unmissable overview of 6 titles in competition to amaze the most loyal fans.
Among the previews in competition: the documentary You can call me Bill Of Alexandre O.Philippe. Dedicated to the unforgettable icon of Star TrekCaptain Kirk William Shatner together and of his personal journey; an intense portrait through ninety years of a life lived with courage. Continue with the movie Restore point by Robert Holz, a noir-tinged detective story, who lived in a world in which technological progress has developed its own immortality by taking over.
It will be the turn of Monolith directed by Matt Vesely, a true Australian psychological thriller, starring actress Lily Sullivan- as a disgraced journalist; intent on saving her career with the Beyond Believable podcast geared towards solving mysteries and uncovering hidden truths.
You change course with, Herd Of Steven Pierce, a zombie movie presented at Frightfest in London. The protagonist is the young Jamie Miller, found caught between a zombie epidemic and warring militias. A leap into science fiction, with Ufo Sweden directed by Victor Danell. An out-of-the-box story that plunges ordinary people into an extraordinary action-packed adventure.
Last title in competition unveiled on the occasion of Trieste Science+Fiction Festival; And A million days. Directed by Mitch Jenkins, it develops its story in the not too distant future. The Earth has now reached ecological collapse; humanity’s survival depends on its ability to become an interplanetary civilization.
