Elon Musk won’t give up. After the bombastic controversy with Apple, the new owner of Twitter has found a way to recover the 30% commissions imposed by the AppStore: increase prices. The Information portal reports that Twitter Blue will cost a whopping $11 a month on iPhone deviceswhile on desktops and other operating systems the service is sold for $7 a month.
Twitter isn’t the first company to dispute Apple’s withholding fees for transactions made on its AppStore. Previously, Spotify also requested and obtained the ability to sell products and services on iOS devices without going through the AppStore.
Twitter Blue will bypass commissions on iPhone
The increase in the price of the service, in addition to allowing Twitter to recover the commissions imposed by the AppStore, will encourage users to subscribe to the web version of the service. The launch of Twitter Bluepostponed again this month, will take place on Friday and will introduce various innovations such as three different colors for the ticks (gold, gray and blue), indicating respectively companies, government accounts and people.
The battle between Apple and Twitter had already begun a few weeks ago, after Cupertino’s threats to remove the social app following the controversial maneuvers of Elon Musk.
