Through Twitter, Ubisoft has recognized the impact Google’s decision will have on Ubisoft players who have embraced the new technology. He later stated that while he does not have “specific details” at the moment, he will have “more information to share […] at a later date “.
The message also mentions that the it could also come for Stadia players who have signed up Ubisoft+ – Ubisoft’s subscription service – on Stadia, but again didn’t provide specific details. Ubisoft said:
“While Stadia closes its doors on January 18, 2023, we are happy to announce that we are working to bring the games you own to Stadia on PC through Ubisoft Connect. We will have more information on the specific details and impact for Ubisoft + subscribers at a later date. ”
A few days ago Google announced the closure of Stadia in a new blog post, explaining that the service will remain active until January 18, 2023, to allow players to “complete the final game sessions”. Refunds for customers who purchased software and hardware through the Google store will be made in mid-January.
Phil HarrisonVice President and General Manager of Google Stadia, said:
“A few years ago we launched a consumer gaming service, Stadia. While Stadia’s approach to consumer game streaming was built on a solid technological foundation, it didn’t get the user traction we expected, so we made the difficult decision to start shutting down our Stadia streaming service. ” .
