UK sales figures: results for video games up to 11/14/21

The first two places do not give up the podium but there are three to debut in the top 10: here are the latest sales figures across the Channel for video games

We hope you can forgive us if, like last week (or rather “last time”, but we will get there later), once again sales figures for video games they only arrive in the middle of the week. In this case, however, the cause is not attributable to the timing of the census of the British body GfK, nor to the report of GamesIndustry.biz. In this case, an upcoming and full-bodied review got a little in the way. That said, as always, we remind you that the information we are going to deal with concerns sales of the physical format only. That said, let’s proceed without further ado!

Come on come on!

In fourth place among the most successful video games in the United Kingdom, our usual litmus test, in the sales figures just miss the podium Forza Horizon 5. Compared to its predecessor, released in 2018, the latest green ribbon from Xbox has sold 80% fewer copies, but we can only assume that the digital format has taken care of the numbers, especially given the enormous boost of Game Pass service. The jade giant has already named this launch as the largest in the series on a global scale, with 4.5 million players. The numbers of digital, of course, will come later.

Fossils – Sales figures for video games

But if you’ve read our subtitle, you should know that we have three novice video games in our sales figures. In sixth place we have Jurassic World Evolution 2 by Frontier, whose numbers are, however, 37% lower than their predecessor. As always, however, we can expect the digital to go where the physical cannot. 34% of sales occurred on PS5, with 33% on PS4 and another 33% on Xbox consoles (rarely counted individually). In the specific case of the Xbox family, digital always tends to provide more generous numbers, so (again) we’ll see.

Roles to play – Sales figures for video games

Later, among the new faces we have the exclusive for Nintendo Switch, Shin Megami Tensei V, which debuts in ninth place. Eastern RPGs are usually part of a niche genre in the UK, but compared to other recent releases the game fared well. Sales at launch are 60% higher than Bravely Default II, which was released on Switch in February. Speaking of RPGs exclusively for the Big N hybrid console, Atlus’ latest son also sold 43% of Monster Hunter Stories 2. Comparison with other consoles sees Shin Megami Tensei V up 23% higher than Tales of Arise, released in September on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Balls more orange than yellow – Sales figures for video games

In twelfth place we have then Football Manager 2022 by SEGA. As this is a PC title, the bulk of the sales will come from Steam. Unsurprisingly, therefore, the launch in physical format is down by 25% compared to its predecessor in the managerial football saga. To conclude the roundup of new entries, then, we have Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, whose launch in physical format sees him finishing in 23rd place. 56% of sales were on Nintendo Switch, 21% on PS5, 14% on PS4 and 10% on Xbox. Wishing there would be an honorable mention, if we squint a little.

From Island Paradise to Far Waged War – Video Game Sales Figures

Although in fact it is not a debut in the strict sense, Animal Crossing: New Horizons received a 99% increase following the launch of the new DLC over the previous week, placing it third. The new face of last week, Call of Duty Vanguard, remains anchored to the gold medal (to value?) despite a weekly decline of 47% (which by the standards of the saga is little). The title, as a whole, however, sold much less than its predecessor.

FIFA to dance and other stories – Sales figures for video games

Another game that holds its stance tightly is FIFA 22, which even enjoyed an 11% increase over the previous week (let’s not say “last”, just in case, because every week we talk about the one just ended, so it’s “two weeks ago”). Just Dance 2022 drops to fifteenth place, losing 30% of sales, with the Mint Legends package by Fortnite below him with a slip of 46%. The other “young” titles remain in the top ten. Mario Party Superstars is still in seventh place after a drop of 35%, while Guardians of The Galaxy it is tenth with a 25% drop.
