Ratchet and Clank double up and Minecraft Dungeon takes second place: here are the latest sales figures for video games from the United Kingdom
After a feast of news as memorable as that of the last E3, the first ones sales data after the fair for i video games in physical format it shows us a very rare fact to report. In fact, contrary to what usually happens, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart it was able to sell more in the second week in the UK than it did in the first. We have often reported cases in which the opposite occurred, with drops of up to 70% even for the most famous games; usually the games that enjoy the most increases in the second week are the most casual-friendly that live less from pre-orders, such as the various Just Dance.

Instead Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of the video games perhaps less close to the casual audience, without clearly being “hardcore” like Returnal or Demon’s Souls, which makes these sales figures really surprising. The impact may be due to word of mouth or special offers at some retailers. In Europe we have seen bundle official for the console, which may have had some effect on the performance of the title. There are also unofficial ones. Whatever the truth, we know that this 2% increase was enough to make Insomniac’s best-selling stock of the week.

We also have a surprise silver medal to bring back with Minecraft Dungeons, which ranks second in this week’s sales figures for video games. The stock of Microsoft and Mojang rose 28 places and finished second. The Nintendo Switch version dropped to a price of thirteen pounds at retail chain Curry’s, which pruned to a 758% increase in sales. The PS4 and Xbox One versions have also risen in sales, but the domination belongs to the format for the hybrid console: the platform of the Big N has brought in fact to 96% of the copies sold.

What has been said so far also means that in the sales figures FIFA 21 drops to third place among the best-selling video games, despite a 21% increase. It is not the only title that falls in the standings at the expense of an increase: also Mario Kart 8 Deluxe he finds himself in the same situation, missing the podium and finishing fourth despite the fact that in his case the copies have sold 47% more than the last data we reported. Resident Evil Village back in the top five thanks to a 59% increase due mainly to a boom in sales for the PS5 format.

In terms of new releases, the Complete Edition’s debut Metro Exodus on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S places the title in seventeenth position in our sales figures, with 77% of games sold on PS5. To return to the ranking we also find Forza Horizon 4 for Xbox One, which finds itself twenty-second after a 480% increase in sales week to week. The sequel was revealed at last E3, and received multiple acclaim including the coveted Game of the Show crown. However, we also have several decrements to remember.

The new entries we talked about last week have already made themselves “meteors” in these sales figures, including one of the video games that made headlines during the last E3. We allude to Chivalry 2, which unfortunately did not have the same luck as the gold medal with which we opened our special. A drop of 65% placed him 28th. Different, and even sadder, speech for the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and for Guilty Gear Strive. Sorry for the fans of both, but we don’t have specific numbers to report because the two titles ended up out of the top 40.
