Call of Duty always goes strong, but physically limps as Fortnite lands in the top ten: here are the latest sales figures for video games
It took a little longer this time, but in the middle of the week we have the sales data collected by the British institution GfK for i video games. The United Kingdom, as we know, is a litmus test like many others to observe the videogame market, and that is why even this week (despite the two-day delay) GamesIndustry.biz made us participate in the usual top ten (with a hint of top 40). As always, however, we remind you that this ranking has nothing global: in fact, we are only talking about the physical market. The results of digital sales will only show up tomorrow or later.

To place itself at the top of the top ten for best-selling video games is Call of Duty: Vanguard, undisputed gold medal for these sales figures. The reign of terror of FIFA 22 it therefore seems to be at an end. Needless to say, Activision’s latest shooter sold mostly on Sony platforms, with 41% of sales on PS5, 29% on PS4, 19% on Xbox One and 11% on Xbox Series X and S Although it has always been a force of nature in the physical market (as well as FIFA), this time the signs of acceleration on the digital format are all there. We don’t have specific numbers, but physical copies of this specific Call of Duty have sold 23% less than their predecessor.
A breath of fresh air (yes, mint) – Sales data for video games
In 2020, sales figures for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War at launch were down 64% from the previous installment in the war video game saga, Modern Warfare. Digital accelerated 39% in that regard, so UK performance figures are all yet to be established. However there are more rookies this week, starting in ninth place for the Fortnite. The package Mint Legends sold 33% on Nintendo Switch, 24% on PS4, 24% on Xbox consoles (without distinction, as is often the case for Xbox) and only 19% on PS5.
From Fortnite ballets to dance contests on Xandar – Sales figures for video games
Just Dance 2022, compared to its 88% of sales on the Nintendo Switch, it slips to eleventh place. To barely enter the top 40 is Fast & Furious: Spy Racers – Rise of Shifter. The previous silver medal, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, finds himself sixth after a tumble of 64%. And to laugh under your mustache can only be Mario Party Superstars, which despite having debuted in third place still manages to maintain the position with a drop of 18%. Riders Republic Ubisoft, for its part, is faring much worse, losing eight positions and finding itself sixteenth after losing 48% of sales.

For Nintendo Switch, therefore, continues to be an excellent week, driven by greater sales at the hardware level. Not surprisingly, the biggest beneficiaries were Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with a 30% increase e Animal Crossing: New Horizons with an increase of 14%. However, the arrival of new stocks (as you will remember) also brings pleasant surprises for Sony. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales it climbs 12 places, with a 342% increase that places it in fifth place. Thanks also to a bundle and some discounts, too Immortals: Fenyx Rising back in the standings with a jump of 652% that places him twelfth.
