VMware’s Telco Cloud Infrastructure offers a single horizontal platform that enables Virgin Media O2 to simplify, scale and better secure its core cloud networks. Operating on a reliable and agile network that can be updated efficiently to maintain coverage quality is critical the success of Virgin Media O2’s 5G network, in particular in highly regulated and competitive markets.
Virgin Media O2 will also rely on VMware Tanzu for Telco’s Kubernetes cluster capabilities to build Containers as a Service (CaaS) expertise. This will support the next generation of containerized networking functions and allow Virgin Media O2 to maintain and expand its network capacity to support multi-vendor solutions. Being able to integrate functions and interoperate between different vendors is essential to ensure rapid deployment. VMware’s common platform allows Virgin Media O2 to add these features incrementally.
