the Tokyo Olympics have already been associated with video games in a rather important way. Just a couple of days ago, the opening ceremony of the event saw the presence of many soundtracks from famous Japanese franchises such as Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog and Dragon Quest. But that is not all: Vitalina Batsarashkina, an athlete competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, recently sported an accessory that recalls the popular series The Witcher.
Vitalina Batsarashkina, the athlete who brings her passion for The Witcher to the Olympics
Representing the Russian team, Batsarashkina is part of the women’s team of shooting gallery and recently took part in the competition of 10 m compressed air gun. Batsarashkina wore the medallion of The Witcher del gatto, an heirloom from the famous video game series (and more). Batsarashkina proudly wore the necklace throughout the entire competition, clearly demonstrating that she is a huge fan of the video game series as well as being a world-class athlete.
The funny thing is, this isn’t the first time Batsarashkina has been seen with these Witcher memorabilia. Also ai Rio Olympic Games in 2016 he had The Witcher medallion – the classic wolf medallion – hanging from his pants. In the past, he has even sported the same The Witcher logo on the glasses he wears while racing. Overall, it is clear that she is a huge fan of this series and the presence of these gadgets obviously gives her additional confidence when competing.
Batsarashkina actually has won his competition at the Olympics this weekend and took home the gold medal for his country. This proves two things, that if you are a person who plays video games a lot, you can still find the time to be successful in different fields (contrary to what many claim); and that maybe The Witcher really brings luck.
