Volkswagen presents the new one Passat 2024, the ninth generation of the station wagon which reconfirms the concept of advanced driving, offering a range of innovative engines and cutting-edge technologies. Our test drive of the new one Volkswagen passatthe characteristics and the prezzo of the variations.
Passat 2024: technology and comfort
The new Volkswagen Passat 2024 offers a series of innovative technologies to improve the driving experience and comfort, starting with the parking assistant with Memory and Remote function. The range of assistance systems includes Park Assist Plus, with the new Memory function for the parking assistant and Park Assist Pro with Remote function.
The new Memory function allows the system to record the last 50 meters travelled, simplifying the management of parking manoeuvres. Remote Parking, in combination with the dedicated app, allows you to park or exit the car park via smartphone, offering greater flexibility to users.
For those who want an even more comfortable ride on variable terrain, then, the Passat 2024 offers 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Volkswagen has developed a new centrifugal pendulum for the 4MOTION system, reducing vibrations and improving acoustic comfort while driving.
Volkswagen also placed special emphasis on safety when equipping the new one Passat with a series of advanced driver assistance systems. Travel Assist offers semi-autonomous driving at cruising speeds up to 210 km/h, combining Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to keep the car in the center of the lane and adapt speed to traffic conditions.
The Emergency Assist system is designed to intervene in an emergency, for example if the driver becomes unable to drive. In such situations, the system activates a series of measures to stop the car safely, including an audible and visual alarm, an attempt to awaken the driver and, if necessary, slowing down and automatically stopping. The IQ.DRIVE driver assistance package also includes features such as Lane Assist, Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, and Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, further improving the safety of the driver and passengers.
Design and dimensions of the Volkswagen Passat 2024
With the ninth generation of Passat, Volkswagen introduced a modern design and generous dimensions. The wheelbase increased by 50 mm and the overall length of 144 mm contribute to greater space for both passengers and the trunk.
The aerodynamic front, characterized by a drag coefficient of 0.25, features a front bonnet with more sunken lines and new LED headlights. These headlights, with the possibility of opting for the Matrix IQ.LIGHT version, contribute to an elegant and modern appearance, while also improving light efficiency.
The design of the new one Volkswagen passat it stands out for its sculpted side surfaces, the elegant side and the clean-cut silhouette. Subtle chrome accents along the windows and available alloy wheels up to 19 inches add a touch of refinement.
Volkswagen Passat 2024: the interior
The interiors of Volkswagen Passat 2024which we tried during our test drive, have been designed with great attention to detail, offering a refined and spacious environment and with particular attention to the use of eco-friendly materials. Chrome inserts, leather upholstery and high-quality finishes complete the elegant atmosphere of the cabin.
The new infotainment system offers an advanced connected experience, with a 10-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The new Passat also introduces an innovative Head-Up Display with Augmented Reality, projecting important information directly into the driver’s field of vision. This advanced technology improves road safety by allowing the driver to view navigation instructions, safety alerts and other crucial information without taking their eyes off the road.
Advanced connectivity is a key element in the new Passat 2024, which offers a range of online services and smart features. Thanks to App Connect, users can easily connect their smartphones to the infotainment system, accessing maps, apps and music directly from the car’s touchscreen. Furthermore, the car is equipped with the Discover Pro navigation system, which includes voice recognition, guidance with 3D maps and real-time traffic information.
New Volkswagen Passat: engines and variants
The Passat 2024 It will be available with eight different powertrain options, offering buyers a wide and varied choice. Among these, the mild hybrid petrol engine (eTSI), plug-in hybrid engines (eHybrid), turbodiesel (TDI) and turbo petrol engines (TSI) stand out. All these options are paired as standard with a DSG dual clutch gearbox, ensuring a smooth and responsive ride.
Volkswagen has profoundly redefined the eHybrid engine, introducing a more capable and more efficient battery with a net capacity of 19.7 kWh. This update allows the eHybrid to offer an electric range of around 100km, making it ideal for all-electric everyday use. Furthermore, the revised hybrid strategy guarantees a total range of over 800 km for longer journeys or for long-distance business use.
The Volkswagen Passat also offers two TSI turbo petrol engines with maximum outputs of 150 kW (204 hp) and 195 kW (265 hp). Both transmit maximum torque through the DSG gearbox, offering dynamic performance and an engaging drive. For lovers of diesel engines, however, the Passat offers three TDI turbodiesel options with outputs of 90 kW (122 HP), 110 kW (150 HP) and 142 kW (193 HP). The 195 kW TSI and 142 kW TDI will be available in combination with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, ensuring stable and safe driving on all types of terrain.
The characteristics of the plug-in hybrid
The 1.5 TSI evo2 engine, introduced for the first time in plug-in hybrid propulsion, which we also tested in our test drive together with the TDI variant, it develops a power of 110 kW (150 HP). In combination with the electric motor, the system output reaches 150 kW (204 hp). The top-of-the-line version offers a 130 kW (177 hp) engine coupled to the electric motor, generating an impressive system output of 200 kW (272 hp).
Thanks to the mild hybrid drive, the 1.5 TSI evo2 is combined with a 48 V lithium-ion battery and a belt-driven starter with generator. This 48V system acts as an electric booster, improving starting performance, and allows the petrol engine to be completely switched off, thus reducing fuel consumption by 0.5 l/100 km.
The test drive of the Volkswagen Passat 2024
A few words about the driving experience of the Volkswagen Passat 2024 which, despite being mainly designed for work as a company car, is truly a pleasure for those who love to travel in a comfortable and at the same time sporty way.
There really isn’t much to say about the performance, which is significantly improved compared to the previous generation and which leads the car to have practically zero defects. Starting from the comfort of the passenger compartment, which makes getting into the driving seat and setting off a pleasure.
Thanks to the engine and suspension, the performance while driving is truly remarkable. We tested it on the roads of Provence, where we were also able to risk a few curves in series during the test drive: the Passat 2024 it speeds along without problems, maintaining speed well and also tackling road imperfections without putting too much effort into the cockpit. The precision of the steering and brakes make it agile even in traffic, which – given its size – is certainly appreciable.
How much does the 2024 Volkswagen Passat cost?
