“Dead and buried”, from the French “mort et enterré”, is the lapidary sentence with which the leaker Ubisoft-centric j0nathan (see Assassin's Creed Mirage release date last May) gave for finished without half measures one of the serie more ambitious and less fortunate than the publisher, Watch Dogs. The 2020 episode, Legion, disappointed (to a small extent) the expectations of fans initially galvanized by the premise (and promise) of being able to “play as any NPC”. Since then, rumors about the future of the IP have overlapped, but among many rumors today that of the content creator from beyond the Alps thunders. Apparently, this future that so many have hoped for is destined to happen never arrive.

Ubisoft and the future of the Watch Dogs series: is the party over?
Pressed by a fan on the future of the series, j0nathan on Twitter declared the Watch Dogs saga to be over. The IP, therefore, is currently on the bench, following the cancellation of several titles by Ubisoft. Among these, the idea of a “rather original” battle royale stands out. This is not to say that things are 100% like this, but our impression is that the franchise has fallen down the hierarchical ladder of the French publisher. But if the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Fallout has taught us anything, it's that renewed interest can come at any time. And it just so happens that the Hollywood production house New Regency has started the gestation to give new life to the most unfortunate hackers in the gaming world on the big screen. Fingers crossed, although it's actually a bad time for Ubisoft.
