Apple announced the dates for his next streaming event: from 6 to 10 June all developers will be able to attend the new WWDC 2022. This will be the 33rd edition of the Worldwide Developer Conference branded Apple, once again in digital format (although some developers and users will be at the Apple Park in Cupertino). Apple will announce several news for its operating systems but we also expect some important hardware announcements: here is everything you need to know about the next WWDC 2022.
What to expect from Apple’s WWDC 2022
The WWDC event is for developers of apps and software for the various Apple operating systems to discover the new features. This way they can update their applications well in advance before the official release of iOS, macOS and all other Cupertino software products.
But if the developers remain the heart of the event, even tech lovers in general can follow the event online. Also because the operating systems news they are often very interesting. And often there are really excellent hardware news. And this year shouldn’t be outdone.
What software news could come
Apple is expected to introduce iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, tvOS 16 and watchOS 9 (and perhaps not only). All operating systems already tested but in which every year Apple wants to add some interesting news from the software point of view.
After the event, Apple will release a beta for developers, accessible only to users who claim to be developers. An unstable version of the operating system, with bugs and problems but which will allow you to test the new functions. Over the three months later the beta will become more and more refineduntil the release of the public versions at the end of the summer (probably September, at least for iOS, iPadOS and watchOS).
At the moment we do not have reliable information on possible upcoming news. But rumors close to Cupertino speak of some important news especially for iOS and iPadOS. In June we will also discover the name of the new MacOS (which will probably be number 13, given the trend of recent years). It looks like it could be Mammothbut there is no certainty.
It also appears that Apple is working on a homeOSthe improved version of HomePod OS. Which could demonstrate a relaunch of Apple products in the smart home field. However, it does not seem an area in which the Apple is particularly interested.
Different speech instead for realityOSwhich could debut in case there is a long-awaited hardware announcement.
WWDC 2022, the hardware announcements we expect from Apple
The most awaited novelty could be that of the much discussed AR / VR viewer from Apple. Which could debut in 2023, according to what industry experts say. But the possibility remains that Apple may announce it already this year at WWDC 2022, and then ask its developers to produce applications in view of the launch of 2023. In fact, it seems that it will have a dedicated App Store for gaming and a VR version of FaceTime.
There has been a lot of talk about the viewer. It should have a more powerful chip than the Apple Silicon M1display Micro–YOU ARE in 8K and a price beyond i 3.000 dollarthe. But whether it will debut at WWDC 2022 still remains in doubt.
Instead it should almost be secured the place a Mac Pro with an Apple Silicon chip. At the event on March 8, after presenting Mac Studio, Apple explained that a computer from the Mac line without a processor of the M series is still missing. The reference is to the version Apple Silicon of Mac Pro, the most powerful of Apple’s computers. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the device is expected to debut in between May e Juneso WWDC 2022 seems like the best opportunity for presentation.
In front of the developers, Apple could boast the new potential of the computer. Perhaps by announcing a new chip from the M1 series. After the variant Pro, Max e Ultra, what else could the Apple come up with? It should be a computer capable of handling even the heaviest workloads (3D programming, virtual reality, etc.), which definitively proves that Apple can produce the most powerful chips in the world. We can’t wait to find out how he does it.
However, there should be no news in the smartphone world: the last iPhone presented at a WWDC was the 3GS. But rather we might see upgraded versions of other Macs. Maybe the Mac Mini and MacBook Pro 13 with M2 chip, which could debut. At the moment, however, there are no great confirmations in this area.
For the moment, these seem to be the news coming to the WWDC 2022. But as the event approaches, other rumors will surely arrive: we will keep you updated.
