Those born in the 90s will probably remember the famous system a infraredthen supplanted by the more modern one Bluetooth, for sharing files between (not-so-smart)phones. Today everything is simpler. In the iOS-Android dualism we have Airdropon the one hand, and QuickShare on the other. But it seems that also WhatsApp is working on its own system for share files between different devices.
Share files on WhatsApp like you did with Infrared?
The Wccftech portal reports that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that would allow users to share files between nearby devices, without using cables or other transfer systems. The feature was discovered in the release beta 2.24.2.20 dell’app.
The site explains to us that to use the new WhatsApp feature, users will have to open a call screen Close People. This will show compatible devices nearby (a bit like Airdrop or Bluetooth). To initiate a sharing request, both users will have to accept the connection. At that point it will be possible to send and receive files of various types, with a size limit of 2 gigabytes.
Currently this new feature it is still in the testing phase, and it is unclear when it will be available to all users.
