No more misunderstandings, involuntary grammatical blunders and asterisks. WhatsApp is finally testing a feature that will allow edit sent messages. A function already introduced by several competitors, among all Telegram. But how exactly will it work?
The first clues of the new feature of the popular Meta messaging app can be found in the recent Beta version 2.22.20.12 for Android. Although this is limited to a small number of users, if the test phase is successful we can expect a quick introduction of the new editing option on all devices.
Editing messages sent on WhatsApp: here’s how it will work
Just like it happens for Telegram, even on WhatsApp just keep your finger on the message for a few seconds sent to display the list of available options. At this point the “edit” button will appear, which will allow the user to rewrite the selected text.
It remains to be seen, however, what will happen to the original message. The modification option, in fact, opens up to the consolidated risk of manipulation of a conversation. Definitely dangerous hypothesis in the event of any disputes. On Facebook, for example, Meta allows users to view the original version of an edited post. It is therefore likely that WhatsApp also decides to use the same solution. It will be like this? We will only find out by texting (and making mistakes).
