I new Intel Core processors from the Meteor Lake family (the fourteenth generation of Intel Core processors) could be produced using the TSMC 5nm manufacturing process. In fact, at least part of the production could be entrusted to TSMC. In this way, Intel aims to make future Meteor Lake more competitive in comparison with Apple’s processors. Here are the details:
In recent months, Intel has confirmed that the new Meteor Lake CPUs will be manufactured using the Intel 4 to 7 nm manufacturing process. According to the company, this range of processors should be the first to use Intel 4. In recent days, confirmation has arrived that the first CPU prototypes are already able to successfully boot an operating system.
The latest rumors reported by DigiTimes however, they anticipate a possible change of program. Intel’s Meteor Lake CPUs could be made, at least in part, by TSMC, formerly Apple’s chip maker. In this way, Intel could avoid delays and achieve a performance improvement.
The debut of the new Meteor Lake range is expected in 2023. For the moment, Intel has not confirmed the rumors related to TSMC. More details on this could arrive in the next few weeks. The project related to the launch of the new range of processors is now in the final phase.
