Trent Film has released, in the past few hours, the trailer and the poster of the film Winter Brothers, the film debut of Hlynur Pálmason, acclaimed Icelandic director of “A white white day – Secrets in the fog” and “Godland – In the land of God”, which will arrive in Italian cinemas from May 25 distributed by the same company. After the award-winning “A white white day – Secrets in the fog” (Best film at the 37th Turin Film Festival, candidate for the European Film Awards for Best Actor, winner of the Rising Star Award in Cannes and designated by Iceland at the Oscars 2020 as Best International Film), the Trent Film distribution also brings to the big screen the first feature film by the Icelandic filmmaker, fresh from a recent success at the French box office.
In his debut behind the camera Pálmason shows a dynamic, sumptuous and fascinating visual style that still has no equal on the European scene, already revealing himself as a great auteur. At the heart of the story is the story of two brothers in a visual and sound odyssey set among the workers of a chalk quarry during a cold winter: the younger, Emil, fights the boredom of working in the mine by selling adulterated alcohol to his colleagues, until one day one of them dies. Winter Brothers: a new trailer to reveal the release date in Italian cinemas!
The director, Hlynur Pálmason, said:
Winter Brothers is my feature film debut, and it’s a true extension of all my previous work. It is a film unlike any recent production, Icelandic or Danish. My first works already pointed in other directions, obviously I’m exploring something else. I say this even though I don’t think there are two perfectly identical filmmakers in the world: if you are truly authentic in your work you will be able to create something truly unique. I think it is the individual artist, with his own temperament and personality, that gives color and life to today’s cinema.
