From the Xbox-Bethesda Showcase stage we have finally received several news and a release date for Overwatch 2, albeit in its Early Access version: let’s find out all the details together
The Xbox-Bethesda Showcase stage brought with it numerous news on highly anticipated titles, from Starfield to Redfall, passing to some unexpected goodies such as the arrival of the latest episodes of Persona in the Game Pass catalog. In short, the Microsoft conference was certainly full of trailers of expected titles, interesting forecasts (such as the collaboration with Hideo Kojima) and welcome confirmations, such as the presence of Overwatch 2, but not in the guise in which we would have expected it. The development of the Blizzard title was at least difficult, with the executive producer of the game leaving the team in September of last year, and a release date that never seemed to arrive (like that of Diablo 4, by the way).
Instead, on the stage of the Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, Overwatch 2 is back to show itself with a new trailer and some interesting news. First of all, we will be able to get our hands on its PvP part on October 4th, in Early Access version, on PC, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The second big news is that the game was announced as Free to Play. Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard, announced in a conference shortly thereafter:
We can’t wait to release the first part of the experience that will be Overwatch 2 on October 4th and introduce you to our new competitive vision, with lots of new content and the ability to reimagine the heroes, maps and iconic gameplay that made the game original. so addicting. This is just the beginning of a new era for the ever-evolving franchise, and our willingness to re-commit to bringing players frequent and important updates, well planned for the future, to keep Overwatch 2 fresh and fun for many years to come.

With the occasion, Blizzard also introduced the second exclusive hero of Overwatch 2, Junker Queenand has announced a new event completely dedicated to the game, a livestream that you can follow on the official channels of the company next June 16th at 7pm (Italian time). We remind you that for now we speak exclusively of the PvP part, and that Blizzard has divided the development between PvP and PvE of the game. And there is still no news of the latter.
