Where there’s lightning, maybe there’s thunder: maybe the cross-platform ports for Xbox titles isn’t just a rumor, news from Phil Spencer?
There has been talk of cross-platform port continuously in the last period regarding the panorama Xboxto the point of convincing Phil Spencer to be heard. The Twitter post talks about how, in a week’s time, a “business update” will brief fans on “Microsoft’s vision for the future” of the green platform. From Hi-Fi Rush on Nintendo Switch to Starfield on PS5, including Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle, the buzz has only increased in recent days, to the point of even questioning the exclusivity of the IPs born purely as Microsoft properties. Master Chief on other platforms, outside of Fortnite? It almost seems plausible at this point.

Without even looking for ports between the lines: does Phil Spencer see a multiplatform future for Xbox?
“We’re listening and we hear you,” begins Phil Spencer, “we’re planning a business update for next week and can’t wait to share more details about our vision for the future of Xbox – stay tuned,” without the tweet denying in any way the hypothesis of a multiplatform port. It just remains to be seen how far the change in business strategy will go for Microsoft. Which makes the 2024 even more surprising than we expected, given the jade giant’s large investments to secure the most talented development teams. Or perhaps, more simply, beyond the rumors there is no SEGA-style exit from the hardware market that the most mischievous are hoping for, even though it is a more confusing hypothesis than anything else.
