Netflix has announced the release date of Yu Yu Hakusho, a live action based on a popular 90s anime broadcast in Italy initially with the title Yu Yu and later with the original Yu Yu Hakusho
Con 112 episodes divided into four seasons and two animated feature films, the anime Yu Yu Hakusho first went on air from 1992 to 1997, only to be revived by Italia 2 in 2022, often sending the episodes in reruns. However, the success of the series inspired by the manga of the same name was global, enough to convince Netflix to produce a live action.
Right during the Netflix Japan Festival 2021, the live action of Yu Yu Hakusho was announced, which would give a new version to the manga and anime. Two years have passed since the announcement, and Netflix has finally announced the publication date of the series: it will be released on the streaming platform on December 14, 2023.
New live action for Netflix: the release date of Yu Yu Hakusho
Fresh from the success of One Piece live action, Netflix doesn’t stop and rides the wave of personifying anime that feature fantastic elements, fighting and linked to healthy moral principles, such as friendship and love. Yu Yu Hakusho is also part of all this, who from December 14th will keep us company and show us the kingdom of the afterlife, with all the problems connected to it.
In doing so, we cannot help but count on the protagonist of the saga, Yusuke Urameshi, (Takumi Kitamura) a neighborhood bully who has no respect for the rules or the authorities. Despite this, one day he sacrifices himself to save a child who is about to be hit by a car. In the afterlife this sacrifice is recognized and, due to a series of tragicomic events, he begins to investigate paranormal activities on Earth, acquiring supernatural powers to fight dark entities. The protagonist actor in an interview with IGN expressed his enthusiasm for the show created by Netflix, which we can only share.
