Zero Motorcycles for 2022 has made an interesting update to its FX, to make it even more comfortable in the urban jungle. The Zero FX is one of the lightest and most agile bikes of the brand, in fact it boasts a weight of only 131 kg. Basically it is a motorcycle developed for off-roading and Zero also advertises it as such: “Conceived and equipped to travel your favorite paths and shortcuts or to whiz at the green light”
For 2022, Zero FX will have a 5-inch color display and a new ‘Dune’ color to match its somewhat rebellious character. Other than that, not much has changed. Only the frame has become a bit stiffer and lighter. It is made of aluminum of the quality used in the aviation industry.
The short wheelbase of 1,438 mm, the seat height of 881 mm and the head tube angle of 25.4 degrees are measures that belong to a motorcycle destined for off-roading. Strikingly hits the Showa front fork with 41mm stanchions, sturdy enough for an engine weighing just 131kg. A single Showa silencer is used at the rear. Lhe suspension travel is remarkable: 218 mm at the front and 227 mm at the rear.
The lithium-ion battery has a maximum capacity of 7.2 kWh. It’s certainly not an impressive value, but it does explain why the FX is so light. Z-Force electric motor delivers 15 kW (21 hp) of power and can temporarily provide a boost of 33 kW (44 hp). It means you can drive this Zero with an A2 driving license. The pulling power is remarkable with 106 Nm and thus the FX can really sprint very fast.
Zero FX, born for off-road but also ideal for the city
With a maximum speed of 137 km / h, and with a fully charged battery you can travel 50 km at the most. At 113 km / h Zero announces a range of 63 km. In city traffic, a range of 146 km can be achieved in ECO driving mode, that is, with the engine then it recovers energy every time it slows down. In short, the Zero FX is ideal for moving smoothly in the heaviest traffic. And with 146 km of autonomy, in the city, you can easily move from one point to another for a whole day. Do not forget that you can also connect your smartphone via an app from which you can independently set the parameters for the driving mode.
Charging from one domestic socket takes up to 9.7 hours. With an auxiliary charger (€ 835, -) the charging time is reduced to 3.6 hours. If desired, and with the right financial resources, it is even possible to associate up to four of these auxiliary chargers. So the charging time is reduced to just 1.3 hours. The base price of the renewed Zero FX is 13.360 euro.
