The Great Silence: Plot and Trailer
“Il Silenzio Grande” is a story of conflicts, misunderstandings and silences. A dramatic comedy about an exceptional and dysfunctional family.
Director Alessandro Gassmann says he is very happy to have made a film about a story he strongly believed in.
The story is set in Naples in the 60s and the events take place inside Villa Primic, a dilapidated house which, after being put up for sale, will cause conflicts and family intrigues. “The Great Silence” is therefore a universal story of feelings and anxieties.
Actress Margherita Buy, who had never worked with Alessandro Gasssmann before, said collaborating with him was a pleasant surprise.
The trailer for the film has been released and the director also stated:
I always thought that De Giovanni’s theatrical work revealed strong cinematic roots and potential.
In this film we talk about family, about inevitable changes, about the passing of time, it is a film of lights and shadows,
of silences and explosions of words, of laughter, visions, anguish, where everyone talks and nobody really listens.
Before arriving at the cinema, the work was tested in the theater, where it received wide acclaim.
