The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, announced through his Twitter account that the company will donate money to Haiti which, last Saturday, was hit by a earthquake. Here are all the details.

Haiti is facing another crisis after being hit by a earthquake of magnitude 7.2 Saturday, killing at least 300 people and hurting beyond 1.800. Tim Cook, via Twitter, revealed that Apple will donate money to the country.
“Our hearts are with all those in Haiti who are once again facing the aftermath of a devastating earthquake,” Tim Cook wrote on his account today. “Apple will make a donation to help affected communities and relief efforts.”
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, the earthquake in Haiti has reduced churches, hotels and houses to rubble. The country’s prime minister said a month of state of emergency.
“The most important thing is to recover as many survivors as possible under the rubble,” Henry said. “We have learned that local hospitals, particularly the one in Les Cayes, are overwhelmed with injuries.”
It is certainly not the first time that Apple has committed to donating money in a time of need. Last month when some Western European countries were inundated, Tim Cook said Apple would make a donation to provide help e rescue to those regions. Also already in 2020, Apple’s CEO announced a “substantial donation” of medical supplies and more to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Haiti, this event brings to mind i painful memories of the devastating earthquake of 2010, which killed more than 200,000 people.
The Guardian also reports that “US President Joe Biden authorized an immediate response and appointed Samantha Power as the senior official coordinating the US effort to help Haiti. USAID will help assess the damage and assist with reconstruction, ”Biden said.
