Nintendo has just confirmed that it has plans to expand Super Nintendo World, its Osaka theme park located in the middle of Universal Studios Japan, with an area entirely dedicated to Donkey Kong. This news is hardly a surprise, given that on-site construction has been going on for quite some time and it was clear that something was boiling in the pot.
Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong Zone arrives
According to the images published by Nintendo itself, the part of the park dedicated to Donkey Kong will be accessible through a large circular door that already exists in the Super Nintendo World floorplan. Among the novelties that the ape will bring with him we find new roller coasters, themed merchandise and even restaurants inspired by his historic video games. Nintendo explained that the new area wants to be a meeting between the company’s traditional approach to theme parks and new technologies, which should guarantee an experience never seen before.
“I am very happy to be able to turn the world of Donkey Kong into reality after doing the same with the world of Mario – he explained. Shigeru Miyamoto by Nintendo – I’m looking forward to creating a thrilling experience around Donkey Kong with the fantastic team at Universal. It will take some time to complete, but it will be a unique area not just for people familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests. ”
The new area dedicated to Donkey Kong should open in 2024, the date on which we hope to be able to travel again to the land of the Rising Sun.
