The version remastered by Alan Wake is finally available. This game was born eleven years ago and, to be honest, only some veteran players will remember its original version, which started as an Xbox 360 exclusive and then only later arrived on PC. Alan Wake Remastered is therefore proposed as a relaunch of the franchise, perhaps in view of a possible sequel. Let’s find out what it is.
Alan Wake Remastered is available – that’s what it is
Who remembers the adventures of Alan Wake, will surely know that the narrative component is nothing short of central to the playful economy of this Remedy Entertainment game. The narrative plot sees our Alan as the protagonist, an American writer who arrives in the town of Bright Falls together with his wife and daughter, to stimulate his lost creativity.
In fact, the man hasn’t written anything for two years, but his vacation in search of inspiration immediately takes a disturbing and unexpected turn. In fact, he resides in Bright Falls something dark, not immediately perceptible to the human mind, but powerful enough to create illusions, possess people and make the darkness thick and ready to devour the unfortunate poor who stay too long in the shadows.
Alan’s wife immediately falls victim to this entity, ending up thrown into the lake of the city. When Alan dives to save her, however, he faints and wakes up far from the water, in a wrecked car. This is where our adventure as players begins, and we will have to save our partner, while, at the same time, it will be necessary to unravel the mystery of Bright Falls, possibly without going crazy in the process.
This is the incipit of Alan Wake and we do not reveal more than that, given that the twists and turns of the story are one of the greatest strengths of the production.
The gameplay
Despite the eleven years of age, Alan Wake’s gameplay still knows how to give its satisfactions. At its base, the title is configured as video game third-person action, in which we will control Alan through a wide range of environments, from the city to the woods. Instead, our enemies will emerge from the darkness, and as the adventure progresses they will become more and more dangerous.
To take down these shadow men we will have to first weaken them with light, their only weak point, and then shoot them with our firearms and other useful tools to exorcise these mysterious presences. The ethereal creature behind these phenomena can also take control of inanimate objects, making every object on the map a potential enemy to face.
A few complete the playful offer of the game elements puzzle e platform, that make exploring the town of Bright Falls an experience as action-packed as it is able to take its own time when the pace of the game demands it. There are even some guide sections, although not many.
Taste of TV series
If it were not yet clear that Alan Wake recovered to a heavily televised format, the structure in which the game is divided takes care to make us understand it definitively. The title is in fact divided into six episodes, completely similar to those of a TV series, in which there is a closing theme and a summary at the beginning of the next chapter.
As if that weren’t enough, this remastered edition also includes the two DLC of the game, Lo Scrittore and Il Segnale, which enrich the already sumptuous narrative sector of the title, which should last about 14 hours in total, obviously without considering any completism.
In fact, Bright Falls is full of secrets and hidden places to discover, it is no coincidence that the Remedy guys have allowed players to explore the maps far and wide.
