The famous FIFA football series could soon undergo a name change from the next installations, according to a recent press release from EA Sports
Apparently, after the name change of Konami’s rival series, which recently abandoned the famous PES moniker for a (perhaps more generic) eFootball (here our review of last year’s title), FIFA could soon do too. the same. To suggest it are the statements of EA Sport on the matter. Let’s find out all the details together in this news.
Possible name change for FIFA. Talk about EA Sports
The very recent FIFA2022, released last October 1st, has already reached a total of 9 million users worldwide. These numbers, perhaps in part favored by the launch of the competition not exactly in great style, but which in any case once again confirm the popularity of the football series developed by EA among fans from all over the world. The developers therefore took the opportunity to celebrate these numbers and release some statements about the future of the franchise.
It seems that, among the reasons that would push EA to rename its series, one of these is represented by the cost of copyright rights (probably far from economic) due to FIFA, or to the international football federation from which the game gets its name. We will be waiting to know the future developments of the series, hoping that a possible change of name does not also lead to unexpected drops in the quality to which EA has always accustomed us.
