The historian Staples Center, the iconic arena of the Californian sports world and home to the home games of the Los Angeles Lakers (as well as the Clippers, the WNBA Sparks team and the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL), will change name. According to what reported today by the LA Times, in fact, the Staples Center will be called Crypto.com Arena thus assuming the name of the new sponsor.
Change of name for the Staples Center
Los Angeles’ benchmark of professional sport, the Staples Center, will change its name. The previous sponsor (Staples) will hand over the baton to the new sponsor that cryptocurrency enthusiasts will know well. The Californian arena, in fact, will be called Crypto.com Arena thanks to an agreement lasting 20 years from the value of 700 million dollars.
It is, therefore, a really important agreement that will make Crypto.com one of the most cited brands in the American sports world. In 1999, the year the plant was built, Staples bought the rights to the arena name for “just” $ 100 million.
New logo by the end of the year
It is, therefore, the first change in the name of the arena which, for years, was the main stage of American basketball. The presentation of the new logo is scheduled for Christmas Day of the NBA next December 25, on the occasion of the match between Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers. In the coming weeks, therefore, the historic arena will begin to be called Crypto.com Arena.
