A Bungie executive resigned following serious allegations of toxic management and sexism by her other colleagues at the same company
A week later a major IGN report detailing troubling allegations of abuse, culture averse to diversity acceptance, toxicity, and controversial hiring practices within Bungie, the leader of the human resources section of the firm it is discharged from his role. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.
Bungie: what highlighted by the executive Gayle d’Hondt recalls what has already happened at two other well-known videogame publishers
In a corporate email published by the IGN website today, the leader Gayle d’Hondt resigned, who worked at Bungie since 2007, he states that in order for Bungie to overcome the problems that have plagued it for years, it will need to do so with its human resources team “made up largely of people new to the software house”:
“I will do everything possible to make sure that those who work here have a safe, welcoming and supportive environment,” reports part of the email, before adding that their experience at Bungie was punctuated with “very challenging interpersonal conflicts“, Up to the dismissal of colleagues for“ performance, bad behavior and for discrimination, racism and sexual harassment“.
Alarmingly, d’Hondt also mentions his experiences in the company email, pinpointing the abuse he had suffered from “a man, an executive and someone I thought was my friend at Bungie, which led the company to fire him “. d’Hondt concludes the email with:
I am proud of the work I have done in this company. I believe I made recommendations that were in the best interest of our employees and in the service of the company we want to become. I also believe that we have made mistakes and that to become the best version of ourselves – the company we know we can become – we must recognize and face them, in good faith, and grow together.
The original report highlighted particular crisis issues within Bungie’s narrative team and “structural failures with a group of managers who have become known for berating employees, encouraged the crunch and constantly expressed racist and sexist comments“. Unfortunately, everything seems to be similar to what has already been reported regarding two other giants in the sector: Ubisoft e Activision Blizzard.
